Pre-owned from Italy · checked by refrigeration technicians · started up on site

Pre-owned Italian gelato equipment, inspected before it reaches you.

Batch freezers, combined machines, pasteurisers, display cases and granita machines from Carpigiani, Bravo, IFI and others. Each one is tested by refrigeration technicians from the buttons to the gelato coming out, and every scratch is marked with a dot on the photos.

Why Pronto Frost

Second-hand, with nothing hidden.

What matters when you buy used: knowing exactly what you get, who inspected it, what was replaced and who helps you afterwards.

Inspection report

Numbers, not promises.

“Works perfectly” says nothing. Every machine has its own report, with measured values next to the reference.

    Condition grades

A, B or C: how it looks, not how it runs.

Think of second-hand cars. All three start just as well and passed the same checks. They only differ in how worn they look. Hover over each grade.

    Like a well-kept family car

You can tell it has worked: a few scratches, maybe a small dent or a faded edge. You'll find each one on the photo, marked with a dot. It runs exactly like a grade A.

    Questions

What to know before you buy

Straight answers from someone who works with these machines every day.

Why buy used rather than new?
Italian professional machines are built from stainless steel and industrial parts for years of daily production. A well-kept, properly inspected one makes the same gelato as a new one, for a fraction of the price. What matters is the compressor, the drive and the wear parts, which is exactly what we check before selling.
Where do the machines come from, and why were they sold?
From labs, gelato shops and pastry shops in Italy. The reasons are usually ordinary: upgrading, moving to a bigger machine, reorganising or closing. Each machine's page lists the region and type of business it came from.
How can I tell if a machine is worn out?
Not by its looks. A machine can look spotless with a tired compressor, or be scratched and perfect. We measure what you can't see: compressor and motor current versus rated, refrigeration pressures, electrical insulation, drive play, batch time and texture at the spout. The values are in the inspection report on each machine's page.
Do you own the machines, or are you a broker?
Every machine is owned by our company. We buy, ship, inspect and sell them directly, with an invoice. No consignment, no brokering, so we answer for every machine.
What do grades A, B and C mean?
The grade only describes appearance: A almost like new, B visible signs of use, C obvious wear and a lower price. All three work the same: perfectly, or we don't sell them.
    Which parts do you replace?
Whatever the inspection says needs replacing: scraper blades, seals, belts, bearings, fans, taps, probes. We don't swap parts “just because” to inflate the price, and we don't leave worn parts to lower it. Every replaced part is listed on the machine's page with the reason, marked original or compatible.
Water or air cooling: which should I choose?
Water cooling keeps output steady in summer and doesn't heat the lab, but needs a water inlet and drain. Air cooling installs anywhere, but needs space around the vents and loses output when the room is hot. We'll tell you honestly which suits you.
    Do I need three-phase power?
Professional batch freezers and pasteurisers usually run on 400 V three-phase. Granita machines, display cases and some small machines run on 230 V. We list voltage, power and fuse size for every machine and check your supply before quoting.
Which refrigerant do the machines use, and is it still allowed?
Many machines built up to around 2020 use R404A. The EU F-gas Regulation (EU 2024/573) is gradually restricting high-GWP refrigerants, including for servicing. We list the refrigerant and charge for each machine and explain what it means for long-term maintenance. A refrigeration technician checks every circuit.
What maintenance does a gelato machine need?
Sanitising after every production day, checking the seals, cleaning the condenser (air-cooled) and a regular service. At start-up we show you exactly what to do daily, weekly and before the season.
    Are spare parts still available?
For the big Italian brands, wear parts are usually available for many years after production. We check this before bringing a model in. Each machine's page also has its user manual as a PDF.
Can I see the machine before buying?
Yes. Come and see it running, or we do a video call, start it up and show you any detail, including the defects on its page.
What do I need to prepare before delivery?
The power supply from the data sheet (voltage and fuse), a water inlet and drain for water-cooled machines, ventilation space for air-cooled ones, and an access route wide enough: door widths, steps, lift. We send you the exact list for your machine.
    How does start-up work?
We do it together at your place: installation, connection checks, first batch, programs and sanitising. As a gelato technologist, I also help you balance your first recipes for your machine.
    Do you offer a warranty?
We don't offer a commercial warranty. Instead, we hide nothing: you see the machine running before you pay, you get the report with measured values, defects are shown with photos, and we run your first production together on site. If you need technical help afterwards, call us.
    How do I pay?
Against an invoice from our company. Prices on the site exclude VAT. We don't offer instalments at the moment.
    Can I reserve a machine?
Yes. Message us on WhatsApp or send a request and we'll explain the terms. Reserved machines show a “Reserved” label.
I can't find what I need. What now?
Fill in “Tell us what you need” or tap “Notify me” to hear first when we bring in what you want. You don't need the exact model.
